Ex-Stag Bacon joins Tigers

Friday, June 26, 2009, 11:42

FORMER Mansfield and Hucknall striker Danny Bacon has signed for UniBond Premier side Worksop Town.

The 28-year-old has agreed a one-year deal where he will link up with Alistair Asher, a team-mate at both clubs.

Mansfield boss David Holdsworth took a look at the front man at the end of the season after it became clear he would be leaving Hucknall.

But nothing came of that, leaving the path clear for the Tigers to pounce.

Worksop manager Peter Rinkcavage said: "I have always admired Danny as a player. He has scored goals all his career at different levels."

He's been brilliant for us, we should snap him up. He's a lot better than his famous relative at Newcastle.
